Mammogram

An X-ray of the breast that helps in detecting abnormalities or defects in breasts that includes cancerous  lumps, is called a mammogram. Regular screening of breasts can help detect breast cancer in early stages and make informed decisions. And thus can be less invasive and more effective.

Early detection of a breast cancer through mammograms is important because:

  • It helps in improving survival rates up to 90%.
  • Treatment procedures may be less invasive or less aggressive.
  • Cost of treatment can be significantly lower compared to, if detected at a later stage.

A regular screening through mammogram is suggested  for:

  • WOmen above the age of 40
  • WOmen with a family history of breast cancer
